Panda Chinese Restaurant
About This Spot
Stepping into Panda Chinese Restaurant in Grayslake feels like entering a familiar neighborhood spot where the rhythm is easy and unpretentious. Whether you’re grabbing a quick takeout after a busy day or lingering for one of those rare moments when the pace slows down enough to share a table, there’s a quietly welcoming warmth in the air. The modest storefront and straightforward interior invite you to focus on what matters here: the food and the friendly faces that greet you.
There’s a comforting simplicity to the atmosphere—a subtle hum of casual chatter, the clink of plates, and the steady flow of orders coming through the kitchen. It’s the kind of place where locals have returned for years, finding consistency not just in the generous portions but in the approachable, honest flavors that don’t try too hard but deliver every time.
On a visit, you might find yourself savoring the satisfying crunch of fried dumplings or the gentle balance of a house special chop suey, dishes that carry the reassuring familiarity of home-cooked meals but with that unmistakable touch of Chinese-American comfort. The menu stretches far enough to surprise, with vibrant vegetable egg foo young or the savory layers of pork fried rice, each served with a side of easygoing hospitality.
There’s no rush here, even in the busiest moments. Patrons often come with the expectation of hearty portions and well-crafted flavors, whether they’re picking up a family meal or popping in solo for a quick lunch. Staff members, many of whom have become familiar faces over the years, add a personal touch that makes the experience feel less like a transaction and more like a small, ongoing connection within the community.
For anyone seeking more than just a meal but a quiet moment to savor the reliable comforts of a longstanding local favorite, Panda Chinese Restaurant offers a gentle reminder of why it’s worth coming back beyond the food—the kind of place that grows quietly on you with every visit.

One of the best Chinese takeout places in Lake County! We’ve been coming here for over 15 years and the quality has always remained excellent. Prices are fair and portions are huge!!

I drove from round lake to this location in grayslake. It seems to be one of the better options. We had carryout general Tso chicken, beef w/veg, beef w/ pea pods, and beef w/broccoli all arge plus 5egg rolls. It fed 8 of us will return

Such a cute friendly place!! Food was delicious!! I had the sweet and sour chicken lunch special. Great portions! Also got the crab racoon. Loooooved them! The sauce with them compliments them perfectly!!

I stopped in here while my rental car was charging and OMG 10/10 recommend. The teriyaki chicken was amazing and great value for the price. The egg drop soup soothed my very soul!

This is a local family-run restaurant that's been here since the year 2000. The food is excellent in quality while not expensive. The menu is complete. Most people come for takeout, but there are tables for informal sit-down dinner. Jia and Jean at the front counter are great once you get to know them.
